Reclaiming Teacher Identity in the HQIR Classroom: This presentation supports teachers in teaching required HQIRs without losing what makes them great teachers. Get a behind the scenes perspective from a curriculum specials dealing with the fidelity year of an HQIR and from a teacher who is currently in the first year of teaching an HQIR. You’ll explore practical ways to bring your voice, your students, and your expertise into standards-aligned lessons.
Supporting ELA Instruction with KET & PBS LearningMedia: The purpose of this session is to introduce educators to free, high-quality KET and PBS LearningMedia resources that support English/Language Arts instruction. Participants will explore a variety of resources from KET and the PBS LearningMedia repository that they can use in their ELA classrooms to strengthen reading comprehension, writing, discussion, and media literacy. The focus will be on practical classroom application; how these resources can be used to launch lessons, support instruction, and reinforce key ELA skills without adding to teachers’ planning load. Educators will leave with a curated set of resources and ideas they can immediately use to support ELA standards across grade levels.
Love, Libraries, and the Freedom to Read: A Story of Mentorship and Advocacy: Our session exemplifies From Dreams to Reality by showcasing how a student’s creative idea in an ELA classroom evolved into a [soon to be] published YA novel advocating for intellectual freedom. This journey highlights innovative teaching practices that empower students to transform classroom projects into meaningful, real-world contributions to literature and advocacy.
Talk Nerdy to Me: The Collaboration Edition: Get students talking, moving, and collaborating with hands-on strategies like Jenga discussions, Popsicle Stick participation, Hot Potato, and Give One-Get One. This session shows how simple, playful methods turn engagement and collaboration dreams into reality, creating inclusive, student-centered ELA classrooms where every voice is heard and learning comes alive.
Teaching To Kill a Mockingbird in the Post-Watchman Classroom: Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird is an American classic. However, in 2015, Harper Lee’s other novel was published: the controversial Go Set a Watchman. What should a teacher do with this new information? This session will present new approaches to innovate our teaching of Mockingbird.
Teaching Asynchronous Online College-Level Composition: How I Learned What Not to Do: Teaching asynchronous college composition is not for the faint of heart. Led by an instructor thrust into teaching an asynchronous course – who made a mistake or two along the way - this session brings lessons from the trenches informed by current scholarship. Includes tips for addressing artificial intelligence.
The Vocabulary Dance: Turn vocabulary from boring to brilliant! The Vocabulary Dance uses lots of variety and creative activities to engage students and deepen learning. Walk away with hands-on strategies, real student examples, and inspiration to make words fun, memorable, and a highlight of your ELA classroom.

I Survived: How a Brain Injury Taught Me About the Science of Reading: In this session, the presenter will share how a brain hemorrhage left her visually impaired and paralyzed.
